Happy Father's Day

I'm a Dad.  Brian is a Dad (with an additional newborn as well).  Gerry is a Dad.  Andy is a Dad.  Scott mentions pillow fights with his kids here (ummmmm, the pictures don't show enough carnage).  There are lots of Dads out there that I know and can't mention individually.  My Dad is dead, but I still celebrate him (and remember him regularly like I do here).  Happy Father's Day to all of you.

I'll share my Father's Day story with you.  It is customary in our family to buy Dad a gift.  So my daughter is 15 and doesn't work.  She'd like a job and is looking (good girl), but hasn't found anything yet.  So she gets more money from the old man than she probably should.  Every year, I joke about what she should get for me.  This year, I decided that there were books that I needed and that Father's Day presented the perfect excuse to spend the cabbage on them.

So "The Liz" and I are in the car (she is driving, of course) sometime last week.  We are out running some errand and she brings up Father's Day.  I asked if she had any ideas on what she should buy for me.

She said she had been "Thinking about it", which means "I'll get you something Sunday morning".

I mentioned that I need to purchase some books (online and cheaply) and offered that that might make a good Father's Day gift.

She agreed, so I said something to the effect, "So I can consider the books from you?"

She replied, "If you really need the books, yeah, they are from me."

She knows how much I need my books, so she glanced at me and smiled, "I am such a cool daughter to buy you books for Father's Day."  Kids.

Enjoy your day gentlemen.
