No Liz, you will not be a hairdresser
The Liz called me at work today, at her usual time in the afternoon right after school, but not in her usual teenage manner, i.e. angst and assertion and everything else was absent from her voice. She didn't give me her usual "When are you going to be home?" or "I have no homework, so I'm going to ((insert teenage friend name))'s house". To give a little background on The Liz, during 8th and 9th grade, she had sleeping problems and this caused attendance problems at school, thus lowering the GPA at or slightly under 3.00. She's a 3.50 GPA kind of kid and I expect that kind of performance in her school work.
Back to the phone call - "Dad, my Mom got a copy of my report card". The high school has been having problems with their printer and the report cards from first quarter were only now being mailed. My ex-wife in California had just gotten her copy and I haven't yet seen it. "My Mom said my GPA is 3.93". Woooooooooooo-hoooooooooooo. This is the highest GPA that The Liz has earned and she deserves it for her hard work.
Way to go kid. I now expect you to take a pass on beauty school and go to college. No hairdressing in your future. When you are done with 10th grade Geometry, I'll let you use my copy of this or this, but not this (that's reserved for 12th graders).
