Uninteresting Life

I'm still sick.  I went to the doctor yesterday.  What a waste of time.  Evidently, I have a viral infection that affects my upper respiratory system.  Rest and liquids are required.  Wow, all of that advice and I my wallet is at least $100 lighter.  Gee, thanks Doc.  The medical profession is great with many diseases, but colds, flus and things of this nature seem foreign to them.  I knew what the Doc would tell me going in and I suspected that I would be about $80 poorer on exit.  I hate going to doctors for things of this nature, but it is best to rule out mono (the infection, not the software) or strep or anything else.

I stayed home from work today, again.  It's impossible to get any reading or development work done in this state of mind.  I've got plenty of ideas to blog, but haven't had either the time or the state of mind to do so.  I'm falling behind a bit on the project at work, but as soon as I get back to full strength, I should be able to improve my output.

FYI, GAI.NET is almost complete.  GAI.NET is the "first Genetic Algorithms model workbench for .NET" and will be constructed ahead of any of these projects.  I'll give this a proper introduction shortly, but essentially, GAI.NET is a beginner/intermediate tool for constructing GAs easily within .NET.  The first two sample GAs will be simple optimization and Traveling Salesman problems.

GAI.NET is in beta (v1.0.1.1) and the lower cased one is looking at it as we speak.  The termites won't bother giving me a hand as GAI.NET does not serve much to advance any JJBR goals.  Fortunately, I'll receive some assistance in the form of beta testing and comments from members of the local Wisconsin INETA.  I'm using Sean McCormack's Zanebug for unit testing and have found this tool useful.  I've got an article and a few other web pages that I'll post up shortly after I complete the beta.  Free full downloads of the binaries, source, documentation, samples etc. will be available at that time.

I saved this item for last, as it is really the most important.  My heart goes out to anyone who was directly or indirectly affected by the acts of terrorism in London today.  Those that lost their lives or were injured were going about their daily lives when this tragedy struck.  I hope for justice for those that are in the wrong and perpetrated these acts.  I pray for those who were hurt or killed.
